Are All Essential Oils the same?

Easy answer…Essential Oils are NOT all the same!

Essential oils are not regulated and can therefore only be about 10% of the pure essential oil in the bottle.  It may be filled with carrier oils, such as castor oil, or the oils themselves may be contaminated or adulterated.

When this takes place, the oil is not pure and not therapeutic.

Companies try to cut corners, save money and make more money.  When this happens, the oil may not come from its natural environment.  It may not be grown beyond organically and it may not be harvested at peak time for the best extraction of essential oils.

The plant may also not be sustainable forcing GMO or shortage.

During extraction, the oil may be contaminated by its environment, workers or equipment.  It may also not be extracted in the most effective and safe way.

Check out doTERRA's site, Source to You, to see how they ensure the quality of every essential oil from seed to plant, to bottle.

Why is it important to use PURE essential oils?

When we do not use pure essential oils, we may not see or experience any benefits.

If they are contaminated, they may actually be causing more harm than good.

If there are synthetic components in the oil, or god forbid carcinogens, then extended use may cause harm.

This is why I ONLY say to use doTERRA's essential oils internally.  If you use another oil internally that is not what it says it is (because they don't have to say what it is due to lack of regulations), then there could be a chemical component in there that causes harm.

It may also be an undesired effect 😔

Take Peppermint...If you are using Peppermint to keep you focused and awake, yet there are levels on Linolool in there, if may have the opposite effect and make you overly calm or tired.

How do I know if an Essential Oil is Pure?

Using doTERRA's oils is the easiest way to know if they are pure.  Due to the company's transparency and public research & testing, doTERRA makes it easy to SEE the purity, as well as feel the difference.

The best way to ensure that an oil is pure is to talk with the company and find out their sourcing, extracting, bottling and testing methods.

Know what to looking for and ask.  If they cannot answer your answers or you do not find answers easily, they may be hiding something.

If you do get answers about their purity and potency practices, then by all means, use their oils and see if they provide the therapeutic benefits you are looking for!
